Local authors from the High Desert Branch of the California Writers Club will be participating in Authors’ Alley on Thursday at the High Desert Farmer’s Market held every Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon at Victor Valley College Lower Campus, 18422 Bear Valley Road in Victorville. The event will feature members Thomas Kier of Apple Valley, John Kizziar, Madeline M. Gornell, Mary D. Scott, and Roberta Smith who will be on hand for book signings.

The Apple Valley Police Activities League is reaching out to residents to garner support for its programs. Window decals with the AVPAL logo are available through the league for $10.
The AVPAL offers several programs free to the youth of Apple Valley, including after-school programs at the youth center, a boxing gym promoting health and exercise and a juvenile intervention program called SHOCK. The league is funded by fundraisers, donations and support from the community.
