Kids who need something to do during spring break can learn about taking care of pets at a week-long course, according to a town news release.

The town will host its Junior Pet Keeper program in March. The spring session will focus on reptile and small animal care. Courses include live animal encounters, basic animal responsibility, pet health care, arts, crafts and games, according to the news release.

Students who wish to participate can choose from two spring break sessions: March 11 to 15, or March 18 to 22.

Sessions will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. and cost $30 per participant at the Apple Valley Municipal Animal Shelter, 22131 Powhatan Road.
