Emick takes the reigns as Apple Valley mayor

December 18, 2012

FROM STAFF REPORTS

After serving on the Apple Valley Town Council since November 2010, Curt Emick has taken on a new title: the town’s new mayor.

Emick was appointed to the position at the council’s Dec. 11 meeting where Art Bishop and Larry Cusack also took seats as new members. Bishop will serve as mayor pro tem.

Emick was born and raised in Southern California. He received his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of the Pacific in 1979. He moved to the High Desert and opened Gemco Pharmacy in 1982. When it closed, he opened his own pharmacies and ran them for 18 years. He is a pharmacist at Super Target in Apple Valley.

He was appointed mayor pro tem for the town in August, replacing Ginger Coleman’s seat after she left for a job in San Diego.

Emick has been a member of Kiwanis and Rotary clubs and previously served on the governing board at Excelsior Education Center.
